As I pen this message, I do so with a heart full of gratitude, pride and humility. Serving as the President of this vibrant association has been one of the most enriching experiences of my professional journey. It has been a year of learning, collaborations and growth—both personally and for the association.
As we reflect on our journey of the past year, I want to take this opportunity to recognise and celebrate the contributions of all our respected teachers and past presidents—be it through strong leadership, unwavering support or constant motivation. Their commitment to academic excellence and unity in our fraternity continues to inspire us and guide every step we take. It is upon their legacy that we continue to build and evolve.
I am deeply thankful to my team—each and every member of the executive committee—who stood by me with their innovative ideas, volunteer efforts, and unyielding support. Together we strived to keep the association vibrant and relevant, offering meaningful academic platforms and fostering a strong sense of professional camaraderie.
I want to give special regards to my dear friend, colleague, and the Hon. Secretary, Dr. Abhay Chaudhari, for his hard work, tireless efforts, and flawless coordination that kept the wheels of the association running efficiently. Our friendship of more than a decade made this journey truly seamless and enjoyable.
I would also like to recognize the incredible energy and contribution of the Upsurge team—namely Dr. Yogesh Bang, Dr. Raivilas Narkhede and Dr. Sushil Lohiya. Your efforts brought fresh ideas, academic vigour and youthful enthusiasm to our activities.
I would also like to thank my family who has always been my pillar of strength. I also appreciate the constant support of my friends for staying with me. With this encouragement, enlightenment and empowerment we could justify the theme of our tenure “Expand the Horizon”. Dear Colleagues,
It gives me immense pleasure and pride to introduce the inaugural edition of UPSURGE, the first magazine of our tenure of 2025–26 of the Association of Surgeons, Nagpur. This publication marks a significant milestone in our journey towards fostering knowledge-sharing, professional growth, and unity among our surgical fraternity.
The idea behind UPSURGE was born from the collective desire to create a platform that not only reflects the academic brilliance and clinical acumen of our members but also celebrates their diverse experiences, innovations, and human stories from the operating room and beyond.
I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the editorial team—Dr. Rajvilas Narkhede, Dr. Abhinav Deshpande & Dr. Nitin Sherkar—who worked tirelessly to bring out this edition. I am also thankful to all the contributors for their thoughts, ideas, and articles.
I invite all members to actively participate—whether through sharing articles, case studies, artwork, or reflections—in the forthcoming editions. Let UPSURGE be a true reflection of our association’s vibrance and a chronicle of our collective progress.
With warm regards and best wishes,
Dr. Divish Saxena
